soooo my weekly roundup this week is. i don’t actually have many updates. I’ve mostly just been working steadily on the things I was already working on.

in terms of language, I’ve continued to do my wanikani/kaniwani reviews, and my anki flashcard for toki pona and japanese. i decided impulsively to run through the last 30 cards in my japanese grammar/particle deck in one day, which I think was for the best because it was about 50% things I already knew. I’m going to wait a few days for the grammar deck reviews to decrease, and then move on to increasing my japanese vocab limit to 20 new words a day. I might also increase my toki pona intake, because of the way the deck is structured. I’m only getting new words every two to three days. I still want to start reviewing spanish again, but unsure how to start. maybe with just going back to duolingo spanish to review/resurface what I know. I also need to start reading native material for japanese. soon.

I brought up 750 words a few weeks ago as something I used to do daily. for those unaware, the idea behind the site is to write 750 words a day, of any kind, to sort of unstick your brain. it’s kept private, so you don’t have to share your words with anyone. I’ve used it as a place to write fiction, a place to braindump, a place to vent, etc etc. I should also say that because I was a very early adopter I have a lifetime free account. I believe it’s $5 a month or $50 a year to be a member. on the v1 site for 750 words you had to pay to continue writing after a 30 day trial, but I’m unsure if that’s still the case on the v2 site they introduced recently. regardless, I figured I would disclose that I don’t pay for it, so it’s up to you to decide if the cost of membership is worth it.

long preamble aside, I’ve started using 750 words again. as it turns out, churning out 750 words a day is easier when I’m not tweeting every waking thought I have. my WPM has also increased since I last used the site, since I have gotten some entries done in 13 or 14 minutes if I don’t get distracted, and get into a lengthy train of thought. I can’t remember if I mentioned this before, but I’m trying to move my venting off of public spaces and to places where no one else can see it, and 750 words is a nice outlet for that. there’s been some times where I am in situations where I am in the wrong, but I’m still mad about the situation, so I take some time to vent out frustration in a private entry instead of needlessly snapping at another person.

regardless if you use 750 words or not, I do recommend journalling regularly as something to do to sort out your brain.

I am steadily working on my bishoujo ghostface costume for halloween horror nights. I ordered all the outfit pieces, and one item came in this week (a peplum styled belt) and I was excited! but it didn’t fit me which was upsetting. I am able to return it, but it kind of sent me off on a spiral of how it feels immensely difficult to find gothic clothing for plus size folks. thankfully, I was directed to some online stores that are inclusive, and while I’m not sure I’ll be ordering anything more for the time being, it’s nice to know that I have places to shop. honestly, it should have been a red flag for me when I scrolled the brands instagram page and all of their models were skinny… clothes aside, I picked up some air dry clay and barrettes, as I’m intending to make a ghostface hair clip. since masks aren’t allowed at HHN, I’m instead making a hair clip and bringing my ghostface crossbody purse to tip people off as to who I’m supposed to be cosplaying. hopefully I’ll make that this week!

what else what else… I made a fresh batch of matcha-lime syrup! I use that to make melon lime sodas, which are my favorite cocktail at a bar in new york city called katana kitten! they have a book with cocktail recipes I got a while ago, and while I’ve only made a few so far I think they are stellar. it’s a little bit pricey (the bar I mean. but it’s NYC, what isn’t pricey) but I highly recommend it! I also stopped by a local tea store because they had kouign-amanns, a pastry I first discovered in NYC at dominique ansel’s bakery. the local ones aren’t quite as good as the NYC ones, but they will fill the void in my heart until I next go to NYC, haha.

i’ve been aggressively signing up for webrings now that I actually have content on my site (I dislike saying content to refer to my creative endeavors, but, for lack of a better word). currently, I’m on the ukagaka webring, hotline webring, null webring, and listed in the aromatic clique members. I’ve applied to the neocities creatives webring, the queer coded webring, the wol webring, and the rpgmaker webring. whew! I’m also listed on another ukagaka fanlisting, although it hasn’t been updated to list my site, just a contact email. side note, I'm still uncertain of what the default ettiquite is when joining webrings... are you supposed to put the widget up on your site before you join, or after you've been approved? I've seen different webrings say to do different things, so I've just been assuming it's different for each one.

that about wraps it up for now. shorter entry than normal, but not every week I’m doing a million things, you know?
