another year has passed and this time around I wanted to go over (briefly) my thoughts on each month of art. I might do a bigger overview of things I did in 2024, but I have the memory of a goldfish so it would take a lot of going back through my notion to remember what I did... for now have my thoughts on art.

january: I had decided at the end of 2023 that I wanted to continue with doing weekly doodles, except I wasn't going to soley draw tau anymore. my very loose theme for this month was just "ocs that aren't tau." I also ended up drawing a "flat stanley" vita to send to my out of state friends so they could print him out and take him places when I was absent. I also did a decent amount of personal ffxiv modding for one of my characters's skin and face textures that I still haven't fixed entirely post dawntrail. whoops!

february: february's loose theme was "fanart", which ended up being doodles for three different vtubers and then sandalphon because the looming GBF anniversary event was on my mind... I also attended a ffxiv art party I did a few doodles at. I want to do more of that in 2025... I usually end up parking myself at an art party and then working on something completely unrelated.

march: I didn't have a theme for march. I ended up drawing sandalphon a few times because of aforementioned GBF anniversary event. I also started my foray into making shrink plastic crafts with making some teeny tiny pieces of sandalphon and carrie. I completed a ffxiv mod commission for an edit of koala joey, and started picking at the GBF relink models to investigate the possibility of porting the outfits to FFXIV... I haven't gone back to that project but it is still something I want to look at again someday.

april: no theme for this month either. I think I gave up on a theme after february, to be honest. more sandalphon, more shrink plastic experiments, including my first set of shrink plastic earrings based on geega's mascot characters. she did release new mascots while I was away from home at spookala, so I ended up sketching them out in the hotel room and then coloring them in properly when I got home. also did some vocaloid song inspired parody art, which tbh is one of my favorite things to do. love drawing my ocs into MVs, since the chances I will end up making a full MV any time soon is slim.

may: ghost jam 2024 was this month! while my art committment to the actual event was minimal, I did end up drawing another participant's submission for one of my weekly doodles. other than that, more vtuber fanart, more carrie doodles. I did some abstract-ish doodles in my sketchbook just for experimenting.

june: I got into honkai star rail this month and did some fanart. I also played collective unconscious which inspired a more landscape-y doodle of one of the worlds. I had intended to do more but didn't... perhaps someday. sneaked in an OC redesign at the end of the month just before artfight

july: speaking of artfight, I ended up doing nine pieces for 2024's event. my weekly doodles this month were decidedly more simple because most of my art energy went towards artfight. I tried to grow more comfortable with the idea that I didn't have to make 110% polished pieces for every attack. my only goal for artfight 2024 was to draw more than I did in 2023, which I very much cleared.

august: I participated in trans rep game jam this month. I contributed a title screen and CG to my group. aside from that, I also participated in 8/20 hydrate jam and submitted a shell to that. aside from that, I did more oc art this month.

september: I drew stickers to pass out at halloween horror nights, as well as lanyards for my friends and I. I also finished my piece for etches on the screen zine, although I didn't post it publically until december. other than that I drew more OC art.

october: goatlings hosted their annual monster masquerade event, so I drew a few pieces for that. I participated in etc. jam and drew a shell for hydrate. I had wanted to participate in etc. jam, but at a much smaller scale than my participation in 2023. aside from that, I continued with regular weekly doodles.

november: in november I started teaching myself how to crotchet, so I made a handful of small things culimating in a pair of gloves that I made from a skein of yarn I took from my stepmom LOL. she wasn't using it to be clear!! continued with weekly doodles.

december: the month of secret santas and christmas presents. I ended up drawing three different things for christmas presents, so my weekly doodles ended up being looser and not as polished as some other months. not that that's a bad thing; the point of posting weekly is not to post polished things weekly but just to get myself drawing something, Anything weekly. as per usual I waited until the very last day of the year to draw carrie's birthday art. one of these years I'll prepare something in advance.

overall review and onwards

in 2024 my goals were to keep drawing things weekly and to start to push my comfort zone some. in 2025 I want to keep drawing weekly and pushing my comfort zone. I had begun to eyeball poses using clip studio paint models in 2024 to get some more dynamic poses in my work, but absolutely it could be pushed further. also I want to start doing some studies since I keep telling myself "I should do proper anatomy studies" every month and then... I never actually do it... I want to keep my goals not super restrictive because then I won't want to stick to them, but I might come up with a more solid plan in the coming days... for now though this is fine! onwards to more art in 2025!!
