greetings thatoddhaystack shareholders. I brought some produce from the farmers market in for today’s snack. peaches are in season. please sign in on the sign in sheet as per usual.

so. things are…. cautiously looking up for vita? I have a part time job now, and while I haven’t budgeted out if it will cover all of my bills, at least it will keep me from draining my savings as fast as I would otherwise… still kinda hashtag figuring it out but. at least I have Something that pays me. it is also unforchies a temp job through the end of september… but I’m trying not to think about that so hard.

june events

I had a few job interviews in june! one of them landing me the part time job I have now, one of them which I think ghosted me since it’s been. a month and I have heard nothing lol. ain’t that just the way.

I hosted an iron lung watch party!! even though 2/5 of my guests canceled on me I still had fun with the people that showed up. I made some themed foods (pictured: store bought red velvet cupcakes with white chocolate “ribs” and my attempt at making sugar cookies shaped like the submarine) for the occasion and picked up movie theater popcorn so it could be Authentic… I really enjoyed watching the movie with subtitles LOL because even though I had seen it four times previously there were still bits of it I did not hear properly until the subs were there to guide me.

I also went and visited my mom in nyc at the tail end of june. if you’re like vita! you just went up to nyc in may! you would be correct. however it’s real easy to talk myself into visiting when I don’t have to get a hotel room LMAO. as per usual we walked until our feet were dust and stuffed ourselves to the gills. I didn’t purchase as many things as I would have tho because uh. little miss needs to not spend a lot of money rn </3. we saw rocky horror on broadway which was my first experience with it believe it or not. and like. I came out of it having a minor brad majors fixation which perhaps I should have seen coming. but I didn’t. listen. listen. being like 10 feet away from the actor playing brad during rose tint my world where I could see his artfully smeared lipstick activated some neurons. happy pride!

june projects

I did a fair amount of things in june… one of which was finally building my PC where I am writing this entry now. technically I started the build in june and only finished it at the very beginning of july but whatever. I’ve been a laptop only guy for uhhhhhhhh. probably 15 years or so. and I would barely count the family computer I played neopets and early roblox on as being My Own PC. but now finally after buying the parts like 6 months ago She Lives. I named her k-angel with the intention of continuing my trend of naming my electronics after internet/robot/computer girlies but in hindsight k-angel isn’t really a computer girl ala aigis persona 3 (my laptop). but that’s ok. k-angel is also a bit of a different beast than my previous computers aside from being a proper desktop. for one, I’m running linux mint as my daily driver now after only having used windows previously. well. that’s not entirely true. I did run a version of ubuntu in a VM during college for a class but I didn’t use wine or anything like that. so that’s new.

I am still keeping a windows 10 install sequestered on its own separate drive purely because. baby want to play fortnite with friends. did you know fortnite is fun when you can play it at more than 10 fps. and fortnite is like The One Thing that I Can Not do with linux. but I intend to touch windows as little as possible. congrats microsoft. you pissed me off with win11 nonsense that I decided to say fuck it and try an entirely new OS instead of upgrade my pc to win11.

and there have been growing pains with linux for sure. but every time I run into a linux problem I am glad it’s not a Windows AI Slop Problem. maybe soon-ish I’ll write a blog or a page on my build since it is. baby’s first pc build and perhaps it would be fun to document the process as kind of a newb to PC hardware. software, I get (sort of). but I relied on friends to guide me in the actual buying of pc parts. and also relied on my brother to build 90% of the pc. but I put in the last 10% of parts and also set up the software side of it. in hindsight I think I could have done the pc build myself, but it was reassuring to have a guy who has built several pcs already take the reins.

there was also ghost jam! that happened in june. I was too low energy to make my own ghost this year, so I joined a team and wrote some dialogue for a ghost. please check out thoughtful replies if u have a chance <3. I enjoyed getting to nerd out about crochet a bit.

bingo update

8 hrs of sleep: I did manage this near the beginning of june. did I feel drastically different after it? not… particularly. I think I did feel slightly better but I think I had. other stressors happening at the time that kind of hampered any kind of benefit Sleeping Well would have had. still gonna try to sleep good I guess.

clean my room: finallyyy did this. a bit later than I might have normally done so, but late is better than never! I usually try to do some sort of annual cleaning for my room, and it worked out that I was able to slap FFXIV’s newest ultimate twitch coverage on my tv and just grind it out. I think I also cleaned my room while TOP was the world race so maybe there’s just something about mogtalk commentary that facilitates cleaning.

new website page: I’ve been wanting to move away from hosting my ffxiv oc info on carrd for a while, least of all because I had run out of elements on my free plan, and I finally finished up my faux carrd to be put on a subdomain of my neocities site. I only have it linked on my main site from the sitemap because the main intent of this faux carrd is to give it out to ppl for rp purposes (or just if ppl wanna see ig), but I might move it under my oc content? I did work hard on it after all… most of the delay in getting it set up though was needing to take new reference pics for all of my ocs

new job: on the fence about checking this one off because the new job is 1) only part time and 2) only through september. but it’s not like I set any sort of Qualifications for myself when I wrote this goal at the very beginning of the year. so I’m checking it off

I have been working steadily on a number of these goals also… still picking at my letterboxd watchlist (down to 35 as of writing this!) and still picking at making a game. slowly. I also now feel comfortable to start seriously going through my digital files since I moved computers.

june favorites

dead talents society

a sleeper hit honestly??? I threw this on my to watch list after it was on the top 50 horror movies of 2024 list and honestly I wish I had watched it sooner. it is SOO fun. comedy horror with a lot of heart. a little beetlejuicy tbh. I really enjoyed having a failgirl protagonist.

deltarune ch 5

my playthrough of deltarune ch5 was a skosh rushed purely because I wanted to finish it before I left for vacation. I want to do a second playthrough down the line to get more of the secrets… and to beat the secret boss… as with all previous deltarune chapters I had a BLAST!!! but this one had the bonus of finally introducing a guy that induces Shrimp Emotions. somehow I have another little blonde bitch in my arsenal now. flowery verbal stims have decimated me. sorry to keep you waiting!

zombie stage

cw blood/gore/body horror. ytube link if the embed doesn't work

I’ve been a fan of alien stage for a while but I think I might be more hyped for zombie stage than I ever was for alien stage? something about it really nails the sort of cute x grotesque feeling I strive for with some of my ocs… I think I’m also excited for a return to more of a horror story since alien stage was cool but scifi is not really my speed. anyways, I will be eagerly awaiting luka’s return!!!

july plans

ermmm I don’t actually have a lot planned for july. my pc build took up time at the beginning of the month. and then I shortly started my part time job that ate up half my time. and later this month I am both going to be working 12 days in row btwn two part time jobs and also going to be out of state when not working. it’s good to be making money, at least? even though I will still be complaining some… all I really want to do is work on residual ghost jam things (my regular round up post + making wiki stubs) and maybe starting to clean my pc files + watch toki pona videos? I had intended to work on game this month but I don’t think that’s gonna happen. artfight is also happening this month and I don’t think I’m going to be participating much… will still try to do a few revenges before the end of the month tho!! people have been nice and been attacking me…

I seem to fall into a pattern where I do a lot in my personal sphere one month and the next month I’m either too tired or too busy to work on stuff . no matter. I will keep trucking on!
