brief backstory
after the events of endwalker, tau took some time off from warrior of light duties. unable to keep themselves from combat entirely, he traveled to ishgard, where she came across a corpse holding a certain job stone...
as tau uncovered her potential as a dark knight, esteem grew stronger, progressing from simply being a voice in tau's head to being able to manifest as a separate entity from tau entirely, and even pilot tau's body if given the reins.
tau was aware of a new grand adventure on the horizon but wasn't ready to take up the mantle of the warrior of light. esteem offered to take the lead.
tau closed their eyes, and esteem opened them.
personality
esteem has a generally flat personality, seemingly only existing to do whatever tasks it is asked to do. they never complain, but also never seem to experience joy from completing something... they deny having the same sort of bloodlust that tau has, but fighting in the arcadion did awaken some mild battle junkie tendencies. they rarely offer their own opinion, but if asked they tend to be extremely blunt. people put up with it because esteem will always get the job done.
tau themselves is the only person it seems to have any sort of emotion towards. esteem cares about tau deeply, and is constantly frustrated by her lack of self-preservation. esteem is willing to take on all of tau's burdens if it means tau will have a moment of peace.
