the apathetic chosen one

brief backstory

tau was born as the third son of ruzu nhintau. ruzu was frustrated with not having a single daughter, and became distant from her children. in the event's of the calamity, tau's father died and tau lost her left eye. their control of aether was disrupted and while he could still use aetherytes, her grip on magic was too tenuous to pick up casting. after their father died, tau's siblings left home and her mother became increasingly unstable. tau bore the burden of her grief and their own for five years before he struck out on his own, determined to reunite with her siblings. after taking on some odd jobs in gridania, the scions of the seventh dawn took an interest in them. she joined them, believing that making himself into a hero would spread her name across the realm, and their siblings would find him.

personality

tau comes off as melancholic and brooding, which is true to a certain extent. she's careful to hide his true feelings in difficult situations, although their trials through eorza and beyond have made his repressed emotions bubble over more than once. he is one to go along with the flow, preferring for other people to give her goals rather than make decisions themselves. they have an unflagging determination to see their tasks through, even at danger to herself. he doesnt particularly care about the consequences to the world at large, however. she tends to do good deeds only by convincing himself they serve his "selfish" quest. they tend to be flirty and make inappropriate jokes, although its more so a malformed coping method than actually expecting it to go anywhere. he has no sense of shame and a sort of twisted sense of vanity where they balance between looking like a total mess and also pulled together. has an oddball sense of humor and will say weird things in a deadpan voice to those she is close to.
